With tracks like “THINKIN’ BOUT U” hitting the charts and remixes that breathe new life into classics, Julian shares his journey, inspirations, and what drives him to keep creating for his growing audience.
Julian, for those who might be discovering you for the first time — how would you describe yourself and your music in a few words?
Hi, first of all thank you for letting me be part of this! First, a little bit about me:
I grew up in Brussels (Belgium) and started to play the piano and the violin early on as a child. After a few years I downloaded Garage Band on my old PC and that’s where my passion for music production started. I was heavily inspired by Avicii, Martin Garrix and the whole EDM Scene in general and that’s what I try to include in my music too. I would say my music is versatile but right now I am really inspired by Artists like Malugi, Southstar, Marlon Hoffstadt etc.
Your tracks like “THINKIN’ BOUT U” and “Lose Control (Techno Mix)” have gained impressive streaming numbers — what’s the story behind “THINKIN’ BOUT U”?
The idea for THINKIN’ BOUT U started with a small vocal sample that I found online and I instantly came up with the Piano Melody when I heard it. After I had the first demo done, I sent it out to Mattilo and finished it together. We started promoting it on TikTok and it went absolutely crazy! We even made it in to the billboard charts which was probably the biggest moment of my career so far.

You’ve done remixes like “Hideaway (Julian Remix)” — what draws you to remix certain songs, and how do you approach transforming them?
The idea is to take old nostalgic songs you haven’t heard in a while and turn them in to something new and fresh. I always try to implement a certain sound like a piano or vocal chops to make them stand out from the rest.
What’s your typical workflow when producing a track — do you start with a beat, melody, or an emotion you want to capture?
This is always different for me. I think most of the time I have a melody already in my head or start with a vocal sample and build the instrumental around that.
You seem to have a strong techno influence — who or what are your biggest musical inspirations right now?
Right now I really like the Trance/Pieano House Sound that Malugi, Marlon Hoffstadt bring right now. I also have a new track coming up that blends both worlds together which I’m really excited about.

You currently have over 250,000 monthly listeners on Spotify — what do you think has helped you grow this audience?
Starting with Social Media and getting my songs online was probably the biggest game changer for me. It was really hard and uncomfortable at first to promote myself but once you stick to it, it can really change your life overnight.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since starting your music journey?
Listen to feedback ignore the rest and most importantly: keep doing what you love.
Can you share a few words about Deep Waves Music?
