After years of anticipation, Spotify is finally tuning up its audio game. Developers behind Spicetify, a third-party customization tool, have uncovered new interface elements pointing to a long-awaited lossless audio option—supporting up to 24-bit/44.1kHz FLAC streaming.
While Apple Music and Amazon Music have already offered hi-res audio for free, Spotify plans to launch a new “Super-Premium” tier costing around $5 more than its current plan. CEO Daniel Ek promises not just better sound, but added features and control. Though no official release date is confirmed, audiophiles can finally see the high-fidelity light at the end of the tunnel.
