The “King of Clubs” recently shared a surreal moment with actual royalty. Dance music legend Carl Cox visited Buckingham Palace on May 14th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust.
The meeting was a profound full-circle milestone for Cox. He revealed on social media that at age 24, a £1,000 grant from the trust (formerly The Prince’s Trust) funded his very first setup.
Faced with a choice between earning £500 a week as a scaffolder or £60 a week as a self-employed DJ, the funding gave him the push to choose music. “The rest,” as Cox put it, “you know.”
