This deceptive trend, creating an illusion of unearned momentum, frustrates industry veterans. The Chainsmokers‘ Alex Pall called it “dishonest,” while deadmau5 exposed an AI deepfake of himself promoting another artist.
deadmau5‘s lawyer, Dina LaPolt, pushing for the NO FAKES Act, artists aim for legal protection against this digital exploitation. The battle for authenticity in electronic music is officially on, challenging what’s real in the age of the clout deepfake.
